As we begin a new academic year, the partnership between home and school remains one of the strongest predictors of student success. For the Year 7-9 parents, please be reminded to join us this evening – Thursday, 22 January at 18:00 on the middle field to meet your child’s form teacher and to hear what the year will be about. The presentation will be shared after the meeting. The Year 10 – 13 Parent Information will be on Tuesday, 27 January at 18:00.
Here are five short, practical targets for parents to help ensure teaching and learning are effective from Day 1:
- Prioritise punctuality and attendance
Ensure your child arrives on time every day – learning begins the moment the lesson starts.
- Build a consistent homework routine
Create a quiet, regular time at home for homework, revision, and catching up on missed work. All lesson resources and homework will be uploaded to Google Classroom. Parents have the option of being added as a guardian. Please let your child’s form teacher know if you wish to be added.
- Encourage organisation and readiness
Check that your child has the correct books, stationery, and equipment – and that deadlines are recorded and followed.
- Communicate early, not late
If you notice stress, academic struggles, or behavioural concerns, contact the form tutor or subject teacher early so support can be put in place quickly. Together, these small actions make a big difference—helping students stay focused, confident, and ready to learn throughout the year.
