Let the Adventure Begin!
We are already into the second week of 2026! The adventure has started. Just a reminder to please ensure that your child has enough water and a hat at school and that you have applied sunscreen in the morning. Luckily we have a wonderfully shaded playground but the sun is strong this time of year.
We started swimming today and the squeals of excitement could be heard throughout the building. See a photo at the top of the newsletter of all the fun!
At Struben House, we run a number of programmes designed to support your children’s learning and personal growth in fun and meaningful ways. Over the course of the next few newsletters, I will be introducing these programmes to you.
You may hear your child talking about our Marvellous Me programme, which forms part of our Life Orientation curriculum at Struben House. Each term, we explore different themes aligned with our school values.
In Term 1, our focus is on Respect and Responsibility; in Term 2, we emphasise Effort and Fairness; in Term 3, we engage with Caring and Trustworthiness; and in Term 4, Independence and Initiative. The entire programme is underpinned by the core values of Gratitude, Respect, and Kindness.
As part of this focus, we have introduced a Gratitude Jar in the reception area, where children are encouraged to reflect and write down things they are grateful for. This includes not only positive experiences, but also challenges, as these often help us to learn and grow. Each week in assembly, we share a few of the reflections placed in the Gratitude Jar.
We are looking forward to a busy term of learning and fun.
Kind regards,
Mrs Adi Daniel
Head of Struben House
