Dear ISCT Families,
I hope your families enjoyed the extra day off last week. It was a welcome opportunity for us all to catch our breath during the half-term break after the busy, vibrant term we’ve had so far.
Lately, I’ve found myself reflecting on the journey an ISCT student takes during their time here – from first steps to lifelong connections. I have watched how our newest students have transitioned so quickly from those first hesitant steps on campus to rushing through the halls with total confidence – knowing exactly where they are going and, more importantly, that they belong here. It has made me consider the generations of students who have walked these halls since we first opened our doors in 1998, as well as the many who are still to come.
First Steps
This sense of history was at the forefront of my mind during our recent Info Hour at Woodland Heights. Our Year 12 prefects acted as guides, sharing their personal journeys and what it truly means to be an ISCT student. Their genuine pride was unmistakable; in fact, one visiting parent remarked on just how excited our students seem to be about their school.
We are looking forward to that same energy tomorrow as we host another group of prospective families at our Struben House Info Hour. Several of our prefects – some of whom have been with us since their Early Years – will once again be spending their Friday afternoon sharing the stories that define their time here. They are the best ambassadors for the “human touch” that makes our school so special. (If you know families who might like to join us, you can find all the details in the advertisement below.)
Lifelong Connections
As we look toward the future, we are also looking back at the incredible community that has helped build our school over the last 28 years. We believe that once you are a member of the ISCT family, you are always a member. Whether you graduated last year or a decade ago, those lifelong bonds remain.
With that in mind, we are thrilled to officially announce the launch of our alumni association: ISCT Alumni Connect, hosted on its brand-new digital home, AlumNET. The platform is live and ready for registration today! If you are in touch with past students, please encourage them to click here and register on AlumNET.
Our vision for this association is to create a powerful, global network where our former students can reconnect with old friends and teachers, network across various industries, and even offer mentorship to the next generation of graduates. It is more than just a database; it is a space to see which other ISCT alumni are in your corner of the world, the journeys they have taken and to stay informed about upcoming alumni events.
We are already planning our first official alumni event for this Spring. It promises to be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our shared history, and we would love to see as many familiar faces as possible. We will share more specific details very soon, but in the meantime, we are looking for community builders to help this association thrive. If you are passionate about organising events, have ideas for the network, or would like to “champion” a specific graduating year, please reach out to us at alumni@isct.co.za. We can’t wait to see this community grow.
Wherever your child is on their journey at ISCT – from first steps to getting ready to fly into their next chapter in life – we trust that they will truly feel connected here and know that once part of ISCT, always part of ISCT!
Until next week.
Mrs Reed
